Long Island Man, 27, Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle

A 27-year-old suffered critically injured after being struck by a vehicle overnight on Long Island.

It happed around 10:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10 in Brentwood.

Elna Panphile, 54, of Brentwood, was driving a 2009 Hyundai Accent eastbound on the 200 block of 2nd Ave., when the vehicle struck the pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian, Wilmer Velasquez, of Brentwood, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition. Panphile was not injured.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
